Who is a Good Candidate for Dentures?

Individuals who are without multiple teeth or an entire row are likely to find that more than their aesthetics are compromised. Eating and speaking can also become increasingly difficult, resulting in embarrassment and malnutrition.
Fortunately, with the help of dentures, our team can deliver a fully restored smile and a better quality of life. Whether a person is missing all of their teeth or several along an arch, full, partial, and implant dentures can be viable options to consider. However, before treatment can begin, a thorough examination is required – one that will check for signs of gum disease and cavities, as a healthy mouth is necessary to ensure adequate support and longevity for dentures.
Types of Dentures

Meeting with a member of our team is the first step patients must take when it comes to receiving custom dentures. We offer three types for individuals to choose from:
Partial Dentures
Living with large gaps between teeth can make it easy for bacteria and food particles to become trapped. This increases the risk of gum disease and tooth decay. With partial dentures, though, they fill in the gaps, leaving a patient with a newly crafted smile. Partials have a gum-colored, acrylic base that supports multiple artificial teeth, and it’s held in place with metal or plastic clips.
Full Dentures
Full dentures are similar to partials because they are made with the same gum-colored, acrylic base (most times), and they support a full row of artificial teeth. Natural suction works to hold them in place along with denture adhesive. Since they often appear natural and highly effective when it comes to improving one’s eating and speaking habits, they continue to be one of the most popular tooth replacement options among patients.
Implant Dentures
When an individual inquires about a more permanent form of tooth replacement, implant dentures can be the answer. Made of titanium, these posts work similarly to natural tooth roots because they are placed within the jawbone and fuse with it over time. They are known to remain in place for 30+ years and offer an improved bite force that cannot be obtained by other tooth replacement solutions, such as dentures or dental bridges.
